Carthage College

Dr. Prisca Moore, Professor of Education, at Carthage College works in partnership with several schools in the Kenosha Unified School District providing teaching experiences for Carthage students preparing to be teachers.  The focus of Dr. Moore's work has been to create Professional Development School partnerships in which Carthage students collaborate with local non-profit environmental organizations and foundations to develop innovative, technology-enhanced project-based instruction in diverse classrooms to extend and enrich STEM instruction in grades1-8. In 2013, she was awarded the IMPACT Award from the Healthy Schools Foundation and given the Friend in Education Award for her service to KUSD.  During her twenty years at Carthage, Dr. Moore has been awarded over 30 grants to support these school collaborations from foundations such as the Transform Wisconsin, State Farm Youth Advisory Board grant, Healthy Classrooms Grant, The Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity State Plan Grant Competition, The America Association of University Women, National Council for Teachers of Mathematics and Edward G. Begle Fund Prek-5 Classroom Research Grant (Co-Author) Ameritech, Wisconsin Federation of Independent Colleges Faculty Development Program, and the AT & T Learning Network Teaching, , Sustainable Racine,  and Root-Pike Watershed Initiative.  Dr. Moore has presented her approach to teacher education through collaborations with teachers at Professional Development Schools at over forty numerous international, national, and regional conferences including the National Science Teachers Association, International Literacy and Education Research Network Conference on Learning, the International Conference on Mathematics/Science Education and Technology, North American Association for Environmental Education, and the national and regional conferences of the National Science Teachers Association and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
